What’s with the Pigeons and Trash anyhow?

I create porcelain pigeons and trash to celebrate creatures and objects that were once celebrated, admired, and had one or more distinctive and important purposes in society, only to be tossed aside when that purpose has been served. I see what has become so easily discarded as captured moments that feel like home, when finding home has become increasingly precarious. This body of work celebrates those who feel unwelcomed, are facing hardship, and still continue to create, be, and do good for their communities. Pigeons and trash serve as symbols of resilience, created in porcelain to embody their strength, tenacity, and immense value, like the folks they are representing.
